Updating from Device Manager

It is also possible to update the device driver of a particular hardware like a network adapter, monitor, printer, sound card, using the Device Manager. If you plan to update the hardware from Device Manager, you can follow the below steps.

  • Right click on the device and choose Update Driver.
  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software

This can be done by visiting the website of the hardware manufacturer and following the instructions provided.

If there are no instructions provided on the manufacturer website, and you have downloaded a .zip or .exe file with the device driver, you can double click the file to extract the driver package and then follow the below steps.

  • Search Device Manager and select the top result.
  • Click on the ‘+’ button to expand the category of the device that you need to update.
