The sound problem with your laptop or PC is a more common issue than you might think, and there are many reasons for this. It can be from faulty audio or configuration problems in your windows driver settings, or myriad other causes. To tackle the problem, you have to find the root cause.

Faulty Speaker Cable

Sound Configuration – One of the most common problems is that most people forget to configure the sound settings in their speaker to an audible volume. So first, check that and adjust the volume configuration if needed.

Attach the Cable Properly – Another common cause is poorly attached cables. Make sure that the cable of your headphones and speakers are connected properly.

Faulty Cable – Check your cable wires thoroughly, because if your cable wires are damaged, you will not be able to hear anything until you replace them. The main reasons for this are aging, overuse, stretching, etc.

Faulty Windows Driver

Sound Troubleshooting – Run the Windows troubleshooting program, which will fix the sound problems within minutes, or show you reasons for the sound issues. Follow the steps shown.

Go to the Control Panel and select All Control Panel Items where you can see the Troubleshooting option. Choose this option and select Troubleshoot Audio Playback. Now, you have opened the Windows Sound Troubleshooter. Click Next and follow the steps and instructions displayed on the screen.

Problem With Windows Driver – Sometimes viruses and malware can cause sound problems on the computer. To identify this, follow the steps given below.

Open Windows Device Manager by typing devmgmt.msc, and press the Run command. Here you can see the list of your audio sound drivers. Expand the Sound, Game, and Video Controllers to check whether they are disabled. If yes, Enable them to fix the problem.

Faulty Drivers – Sound problems can also occur because of the absence of audio drivers in device manager list; this can be because of faulty drivers.

A yellow sign near your driver’s name indicates that you have to update or reinstall the driver soon. For this, download the audio driver that support your system’s configuration from the internet, and install it on your PC.

Faulty Windows can be fixed easily by updating the system manually. If you fail to do this because of highly corrupted Windows, do any of the 2 things;
